The partner for business evolution.

From fashion to manufacturing, from large-scale retail to healthcare and the legal sector: SYS-DAT Group extends its reach to the world of cybersecurity

In Italy’s heterogeneous and diverse landscape, from the standpoint of offering ICT solutions, it is not easy to find a reference partner who can help customers juggle different markets. SYS-DAT Group over the years has consolidated its position as an advanced software house and business innovator on the national scene, growing to employ more than 450 people and 10 subsidiary companies, spread over 20 locations throughout Italy. Steady growth, culminating this year with two major acquisitions. SYS-DAT’s strength is based on technology and business process knowledge. “For years, we have been the “rolling startup” of ICT in Italy that has always combined technological and business skills.”

Word of Matteo Neuroni, CEO of SYS-DAT Group.

Growth strategy

SYS-DAT Group is distinguished by its two souls as a software house and advanced business innovator. “We are a reality that evolves day by day”-explains Matteo Neuroni. “In recent years, we have seen the needs of businesses change. Coming to the latest phase we are experiencing, which we call innovation booster, the goal is to simplify the complexity of technology, reducing it to practical applications to accelerate customers’ business.” The services offered by SYS-DAT cover all mission critical processes both on-prem and in the cloud: ERP, CRM, SCM, PDM&PLM, BI, GDPR, DIGITAL, Omichannel, Retail & Distribution. This is done through the use of various advanced technologies, with software developed in-house, which is also complemented by solutions originally based on international standard technologies. During 2023, SYS-DAT Group made two major acquisitions. The first, in June, concerns Equalis, a Milan-based company founded in 1984 with know-how and vertical specialization in the legal sector. Equalis joins the team through its subsidiary NEKTE, expanding its legal expertise to corollary solutions in CRM environments. “The union of NEKTE and Equalis is another addition to the growth pattern undertaken by the Group”-explains CEO Matteo Neuroni.

In October, the growth path continued with the acquisition of VCUBE, active in cybersecurity, virtualization, cloud and networking. Based in Reggio Emilia, the company boasts clients from various industries who have relied on its expertise and solutions to improve data security for more than a decade. These moves follow the entry of other entities into SYS-DAT, including Humatics, a spin-off from the University of Verona, which is active in the fields of machine learning and human-computer interaction: further evidence of how each entity that joins SYS-DAT Group succeeds in innovating and innovating itself, bringing its specific expertise to vertical sectors through constantly evolving technology.

Integration and interoperability

SYS-DAT Group takes a two-channel growth approach combining organic growth and acquisition operations. “Each strategy we implement has three distinctive characteristics”-Matthew Neuron explains. “First of all, we identify vertical sectors with specific needs, avoiding generic solutions. We started with the fashion sector and then focused on manufacturing, the wine sector–distinctive of Made in Italy–moving on to private healthcare, legal and so on.”

The second feature is to facilitate the integration of solutions, avoiding isolation from the market and instead promoting interoperability. With this in mind, SYS-DAT Group has earned qualified and recognized levels of partnership for the use of standard and international platforms such as IBM, SAP and Microsoft. “The third aspect of the growth strategy is the constant search for companies with a high degree of innovation. Each expertise that joins the group must not only bring new knowledge, but also provide development opportunities for new business models of our clients.”

According to Neuroni, compared to only a few years ago, the IT industry in Italy is no longer so far behind international players and the overseas market. “Today we boast know-how that positions us as a benchmark in specific areas. This propels us toward a future, perhaps not so distant, in which we will have the opportunity to extend beyond national borders.”
