Make Your Website Accessible
The new European accessibility standards, which are based on the WCAG 2.1 guidelines (Level AA), are rules designed to ensure that everyone can easily use the web. Being accessible means breaking down digital barriers and providing a better experience for every user.
Effective June 28, 2025, Directive (EU) 2019/882 introduces mandatory accessibility requirements for e-commerce and corporate websites of private companies as well. The regulations apply to companies with more than 10 employees or €2 million in revenue and provide for fines of up to €40,000 for those who fail to comply. However, certain exemptions are provided, such as those for micro-enterprises or cases of disproportionate burden, as well as transitional measures that grant until June 28, 2030, to adapt digital services already online, provided they do not undergo substantial changes in the meantime.
