
It is necessary to change, it is necessary to build a new future for us and for the new generations. And the future does not build itself. It takes choices, commitment and the courage to take new paths. For us, this starts here: with gender equality.
This is why we are proud that Versya and A&C Holding have obtained Gender Equality Certification, according to UNI/PdR 125:2021.
But obtaining certification is not the end of a journey; it is the beginning.
Gender Equality Statistics: it’s time for a change
In this reflection, we started precisely from a point that is fundamental to us. The gender gap in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields is not just a matter of numbers: even with the same degree, the employment rate for women remains about 10 points lower than for men.
And although the difference narrows slightly among 25-44 year olds, the problem remains structural: so it becomes necessary to break down these barriers and invest in innovation and sustainable growth.
Indeed, gender equality is not only an ethical goal, but also an economic one: according to the McKinsey Global Institute, ensuring women have the same job opportunities as men could add $28 trillion to global GDP by 2025.
And for Italy, increased female labor participation could bring benefits of more than half a percentage point in annual GDP growth.
And then there is the gender pay gap: Italy still has one of the highest pay gaps in Europe: women earn on average 8.7 percent less than men, and in listed companies, only 2 percent of CEOs are women. Can we really accept this?
The numbers unfortunately speak for themselves: there is still a long way to go.
And we want to walk it with concrete and measurable actions, such as:
- Train and inform to build an inclusive culture.
- Adopt language that includes, not excludes.
- Support those who become parents, because a career should never be a choice.
