In Europe alone, according to data from <strong>DigitalFoodLab<\/strong>, foodtech capital raising in 2021 came close to 10 billion euros. <br\/><br\/>The risk is that we will arrive at technological innovation extremely late, in a sector that <strong>ranks third in gross saleable production in<\/strong> Europe, and consequently see other European countries overtake us, despite having a less &#8220;strong&#8221; food tradition than Italy.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br\/><strong>TheFoodCons report: innovation in agribusiness still far away<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>According to the report &#8211; prepared by consulting firm <em>TheFoodCons<\/em>, in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.agrifood.tech\/open-innovation\/scarsi-ma-destinati-a-crescere-gli-investimenti-in-agrifood-tech-in-italia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Agrifood-Tech Italy<\/em><\/a>, the startups <em>xFarm Technologies, 3Bee and Elaisian<\/em>, and the consulting firms <em>Forward Fooding, Over Ventures <\/em>and <em>Edible Planet Ventures-the<\/em> numbers<strong>of innovation in the food field<\/strong> are truly derisory.<br\/><br\/>The investment of <strong>156.155 million euros<\/strong>, for 54 deals, as TheFoodCons founder <strong>Antonio Iannone<\/strong> writes in the report&#8217;s foreword, &#8220;actually represents only <strong>0.30 percent of the global investment<\/strong> in the sector, which is close to $52 billion.&#8221;<br\/><br\/>Leading the way are <strong>startups in Digital Food-an<\/strong> area that includes new consumption models such as E-Grocery, D2C (producer to consumer), Delivery and Marketplace-which attracted nearly <strong>65 million investments, or 41.6 percent of the total<\/strong>, driven by the success of <strong>Eveli, Cortilia, Cosaporto or Babaco<\/strong>, which portend a growing future.<br\/><br\/>They are closely followed by<strong>Agritech<\/strong> companies with <strong>60.79 million investments, or 38.9 percent of the total<\/strong>: these include Indoor farming, Farm management, and Novel farming. Not to be underestimated, the report points out, are the <strong>startups active in insect farming<\/strong>, such as Bef, Nutrinsect and Alia. <br\/><br\/>Third podium, on the other hand, for the <strong>Restaurant-Tech<\/strong> department, i.e., <strong>technologies for the horeca<\/strong> (world related to consumption and serving of food and beverages that do not take place within the home), which garner <strong>investments of 18.3 million, or 11.3 percent of the total.<\/strong><br\/><br\/><strong>Sharon Cittone, founder and CEO of Edible Planet Ventures<\/strong>, points to the need to foster a more agile and collaborative approach-&#8220;systemizing to create a strong and resilient ecosystem. In this context, it certainly does not help policies and interest groups that, instead of embracing progress and seeing it as an opportunity for growth, seem to fear it. Italy, which has always been the queen of food, is in danger of losing the game even though it has what it takes to win it.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br\/><strong>Innovating to optimize agribusiness processes with an ERP system<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>Innovation is also <strong>process optimization<\/strong>.
